UnitedLayer completes upgrade of IP Transit backbone to 10Gbps+ capable

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – July 12, 2007 – UnitedLayer is pleased to announce our recent upgraded IP Transit backbone to 10Gbps+ capable.

UnitedLayer is constantly making improvements to how we provide our services delivery. Today, UnitedLayer has completed the first steps in upgrading our IP Transit backbone to accommodate 10Gbps+ connectivity.

UnitedLayer has completed the “forklift” upgrade to 25% of our routing nodes with the Cisco 65xx series of routers. By the end of July 2007, UnitedLayer will complete 100% installation and be able to offer 10Gbps+ connections at the following locations:

– 365Main, San Francisco

– 200 Paul Ave, San Francisco

– PAIX, Sunnyvale

– 55 South Market, San Jose

– 11 Great Oaks, San Jose

– One Wilshire, Los Angeles

This makes UnitedLayer the most widely deployed 10Gbps+ network in the Bay Area.

“We felt that the Cisco 65xx series represents the logical and most cost effective way to introduce 10Gbps+ connectivity throughout California. From here, we will be able to offer dedicated 10Gbps ports plus we can offer Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) to accommodate multiple 10Gbps streams using different spectrum.” says Ivan Batanov, Director of Network & Systems for UnitedLayer.
